We take God’s Word seriously at theSWITCH. When He says, “Go into all the world…” in Matthew 28:19, we go. This includes traveling outside of our state, even outside of our country. Our youth group has travelled to: Arlington, TX; Detroit, MI; New Orleans, LA; Pike County, KY; Croc, Mexico; Guatemala City, Guatemala; San Jose, Costa Rica; Port au Prince, Haiti; and most recently the southern Omo Valley in Ethiopia, Africa.
We don’t go thinking that we are going to change the world. We go praying to be used by God in work that He is already doing, and believing that means someone’s life will be changed.
Our 2021 High School missions trip will be to San Jose, Costa Rica. We will return to the Abraham Project, where we have worked in the past. Our trip this year is from March 13-20, during the GEHS Spring Break. Actual cost is $1300 before any fund we might receive from the church. Participation is on a first-come-first-served basis, the only major requirement being that the student is an active member of our youth group.
The Abraham Project is dedicated to serving and transforming their local community through evangelism, discipleship, and social involvement. They desire that children, youth, and adults come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and that they are discipled in their walk of faith. They operate a large multi-purpose building that is used for: church services, medical consultations, counseling, life skills workshops, and special community events. They also run a large day-care for single mothers and impoverished families. We are excited to partner with them in their new outreach to single mothers, and becoming part of the solution to orphan prevention. You can find out more here: http://www.abrahamproject.org
Put the dates on your calendar now! The participant application and a $100 non-refundable deposit are due on November 29.
